Remember the computers of 40 years ago?

When Ray Novick started working on computers in the 1970s (while still in grade school!)

  • A 20-megabyte hard drive was bigger than a washing machine
  • HP2000 “minicomputer” components were larger than a refrigerator and cost $65,000+
  • MIT engineer and Digital Equipment Corporation co-founder Ken Olsen said there would be no reason for anyone to have computers in their home for automation.

Now, technology that’s infinitely more powerful fits in your pocket.

IT Solutions keeps your technology working so you can focus on your business.

Fun Facts:  Computers Born in the Hawkeye State

The world’s first electronic digital computer, the Atanasoff-Berry Computer or ABC, was built at Iowa State University from 1937-1942 by Prof. John Atanasoff and Clifford Berry, a Marengo High School alumni and former ISU grad student.

The size of a big desk, the ABC weighed 750 pounds and featured rotating drums for memory, glowing vacuum tubes and a read/write system that recorded numbers by scorching marks on cards.
